Shooting mat recommendation

I am just getting into F Class shooting and I need to purchase a shooting mat. I am looking at the Creedmoor mat with the extra elbow and knee pads. Can anyone comment on this mat, or recommend another mat. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I believe all the Creedmore mats are 'jute' filled and are good quality. If you think you need the anti-skid extras go for it. I one I have has two non-slip patches at the top only and seems to work just fine. The elbow patches on my coat provide all the anti-skid I need.

Shooting Mat

I finally settled on one from Champions Choice. If I had it to do all over again, I'd get the model WITHOUT rubber pads because they're NOT needed and just get hot in the sun. I then found myself covering the pads with towels to avoid burning my arms and knees. Keep in mind that we F-Class types often shoot in shorts and t-shirts. :cool:

I like Champion's Choice.

I have been very happy with the Champion's Choice mat. I've had mine for five years and it's still good as new. I use it a lot for both cross the course and F class shooting. Whatever you get I strongly advise avoiding any mat with black pads on it as they get extremely hot in the summer sun!
 
Hereabouts where shooting points are well grassed, I just toss a piece of canvas down to stay dry & clean - but I couldn't do without my gel elbow pads!

I still use a Creedmoor mat from my High Power XTC/Prone shooting, and a lot of the ranges around here have paved firing lines (I have to use elbow pads as well when shooting slung up) so the padding is very welcome.

A word about the rubber... the newer Creedmoor mats at least have some *non black* rubber finally. Mine gets hotter than the dickens - literally to the point of burns if you flop down and contact the inside of your arm on the stuff if its been setting in the sun even 20 minutes. Another fellow I know has a similar mat, but it doesn't get nearly as hot for some reason. Lucky me, I guess.

Me liking the comfort and all, I'd look at ordering extra padding in your Creedmoor up in the top 1/3 where your arms (and a lot of your weight) is going to be. Heck, if a ThermaRest held up a little better I'd be so there... ;)
