Neal,
Not sure FP 10 has metal additives in it, but it sure is a good synthetic lube for most guns - it is one of my favorite all purpose oils. The CLP's and Break Free's are OK for some uses, but are not very good lubricants in my experience - too thin for most lube uses, but OK for cleaning (like kerosene) or for rust prevention. No doubt their manufacturers disagree with my assesment. Lubes with teflon or graphite are not my choice for firearms either, although silcone/molyD greases have their uses. Metal filled lubes are good for sticking to certain surfaces if carried in the right viscosity carrier.
FP10 will work fine for any purpose that needs wide temperature range lubrication and oxidation protection.
If I am going to use a rifle within a few weeks, I often do not use any additonal bore protection above what was provided by the powder solvent.
