Finished the 280 AI, ready for the fall LSSO.
Hart 9 twist, Rem action, Joel Russo stock, muzzle brake by "Stick", action work, chambering, fluting, and bedding by Glen Thyson.
168 SMK's are it's favorite bullet.
Now, how do you read the wind?
Glad to see your 280AI is up and running Mike. It will be interesting to see how it fares. See you at LSSO in a couple of weeks. I have a new barrel on my rifle as well but it is still a 6.5-284.
Joe,
Trying to make a LR hunting rifle and a target rifle out of one rifle usually doesn't work. For a bench gun I should have had Joel make me a MBR stock.
Would ride the bags better, but I want to hunt with it also.
I have a 243 AI in the works. McM A3 with all adj. stuff, Seekins detachable mags, Bartlien 8 twist. Not sure what I need it for.
Hope things are going well at the construction site.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the match.
Mike C.
Joe,
Are you sticking with 6.5-284?
I should spend my time shooting mine and not building other rifles!
You would think I would have learned my lesson by now.

I do have a brand new Krieger 6.5 - 284 on my Hall rifle. It is shooting pretty well! I don't know if it will run with Sam's or not though. May just have to trip him a couple of times. There is a lot to be said for settling down and learning to shoot one setup well and the 6.5 - 284 lends itself well to that. It shoots well enough to be competitive anywhere and well enough to teach you to shoot. I think it is an ideal setup for anyone new to go to. Sort of like the 6PPC in the point blank game. It is tried and true and there is always someone with experience to help you if you need it.
All that said, I am going to try a 7mm on the new action though. I like to experiment as well.
