I don't practice much overhere...only several times when there will be a shooting match. Not much shooting matches overhere, btw. But I practice bench technique at home when I have time. It's the best I can do from my side here.

My "favourite" range is located in Lawang, about 60 kilometers to the south from Surabaya/Sidoarjo. I can shoot up to 500 meters there, but usually just for 300m or 100m.
Sorry, I don't know how to pin point the location in the google map...
There are three other ranges in Surabaya but these ranges aren't good, hot, and only have 100 m range.

Most shooting ranges in Indonesia belong to army, marine, or police.
Almost in every province & "kabupaten" has a shooting range, but no benches, no shelter etc. (in Indonesian, shooting range = "lapangan tembak").
No private shooting range overhere.

We just use "any rifles" in our shooting competitions here. (Do not imagine that you can find true BR rifles/equipments in Indonesia!). The military & police guys usually use their sniper/tactical rifles (such as Steyr SSG P1 or P2, AW/AI, Sig Sauer, or even just M16, or the local made SS1). We civilians ("Perbakin" member), usually use our factory/hunting rifles. (such as Rem/Win/Steyr/Sako/etc). Some use "customized" rifles, using Hart/Shilen barrrel, custom stock, and after market (or just re-worked) triggers. I use my homemade .308 for our "benchrest" event (300m, a single 5 or 10 shots, wooden bench, no custom rest/bag etc).
I have 5 rifles overhere (.22lr, .22h, .223, and two .308). I shoot both "benchrest" and positions shooting overhere. I use the .223 for the "100m score" (3 positions, 5 shots each) & .308 for the metal silhouttes (pigs, 300m, 3 positions, 5 shots each). For hunting, I usualy use the .308 & .223.

We also just use mil surplus ammos. Basically no reload here.

To be frankly to you I don't have challenge/enjoy shooting in Indonesia anymore. I cannot learn, cannot see real BR equipments etc overhere. I plan to shoot in the USA (at Kelblys) more regularly starting from this year. My goal is to place in "two digits" at the SS & get better from time to time! (one digit is impossible for me, three digits is not good). I will call this is My Quest in BR shooting. For that, of course I must learn!

Seb, its amazing what you have to go thru fufill your "Quest" in BR shooting.

Will you have an opportunity to try out your new stock design while at your favorite Lawanga "lapangan tembak" shooting range, before traveling to Kelblys for the SS, or will you have to do all the assembly and developement work once you get to Ohio, USA?

What do your fellow Indonesian shooters think about this new design of yours? I bet you get some pretty good comments, probably think this nutty American BR game has made you a little crazy!

Here in the US, about the only information that we ever get about Indonesia, is when a tsunami occurs or when the Discovery channel TV does a piece about some tourest destination, which is probably a far cry from what your home country is really about.

Can the Lawanga "lapangan tembak" be seen in this Google satellite image?...............Don

Good luck at Kelbly's Seb

Shoot some more of those screamers like you shot in Brisbane!

Don, unfortunately I would only be able to try the stock at Kelblys. The stock inletting is for a Stolle Panda & I don't have a Panda etc overhere. I will come early for that, maybe on May 16.

My local friends would say what the heck is that if I show the stock, lol.

I tried to locate the shooting range, but still can't find the location...maybe later.
(It's amazing though that I can see our local maps in goggle).

Sure Rob, I will try my best to shoot OK at the SS....errrr I mean to have some good lucks there. I think (imo) I was just lucky to shoot those screamers, got 3rd place from the Flyshoot, or placed in "two digits" amongs the Bests at the WBC-9.
The SS would be a real test & I hope that I can shoot well...

It works..!!!

HI Sebastian.....it is very interesting to know about you ((and all of us shooters))...I must admit I thought it was all jungle over there...I have heard about it from my dad who was ther during WW-ll ....things have changed a lil there and here since then ..haahha....What do u do for a living....you must have mechanical skills to do the design and fabrication with such a degree of beauty....of cours you culd be an accountant!!!! Thank you for taking the time to point out to us back in the USA ...what is the population of your city,, the roads look good ,,,does everyone have an automobile....just curious...and will not be offended if you dont want to answer....I live in a small town(pop. 30,000--only 1.5 million in the whole state) here in one of the most rural parts of America...West Virginia....It is mountainous and covered with hardwoods (oak-hickory-etc.).....
Have a great day and I hope you get to "single" digits at the SuperShoot.!!!!
Roger

Don, the range is located between Lawang and Singosari.
I'm not sure if this is work...?

Btw, do I know you? or you would like to shoot in my area? lol

seb.

Hi Seb,

No, we have never met, except on this forum. I have always enjoyed your postings on this forum, since they are usually different than other topics discussed here.

I cannot travel like I once use to do, but if I had the ability, I think I would do exactly as you are doing and follow my passion and interests, even if they took me half way around the world.

Good luck with your new gunstock design and participation at the SS, afterwards, give us a posting as to how the competition went for you and how the equipment performed, I think many of us would enjoy hearing how this adventure turns out....................Don

Roger......once upon a time, long time ago, all jungles & dinosaurs over here. Lol.

Here a link about Indonesia....
http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/indonesia.htm

I am an architect here, designing things, making custom furnitures & provide interior design/works for local & some foreign customers. I like hunting since I was young and love shooting/competitions since about 2001. I've won many local shooting competitions/throphies since then. I "gunsmith" all of my rifles here. (No real gunsmith in Indonesia, if they can it's just "gunsmithing"). I'm not a good machinist, btw. I usually ask my machinists to make stuffs/threads/etc, within my specs & under my inspection. Usually I just make the models/prototypes. So does with my seb products.
(attached) Here a rifle I built some years ago. Ok, don't laugh (lol), it's ugly compare to a real BR rifle...but I've won many throphies/medals with it, anyway. ! It was just my effort to have a better/more accurate rifle for our local match.
Second pic, showing how I must to struggle(!) with "the rest & bag" set tup in a competition.
Unfortunately you can't use your own rest & bags etc overhere. Imagine you shoot with that kind of set up.
Another pic showing the "100m score, 3 positions match" ..... All are just "fun" matches here.

Don, come to Indonesia someday & just give me a call first...
Here a photo when I went hunting pigs to Kalimantan island (Borneo) some year ago.

Seb, nice pictures, great gunsmithing, and it looks like there was alot of barbequing after that Borneo hunt.

I think alot of us recognise that Hoppes front rest style as our first front rest when starting the BR game, quite a difference from the Seb stickshift rests that you now make and use..............Don

Pile of hogs!!!

WOW Hi Sebeastian....now that is a pile-0-pork.....as Don said ...I can smell the BBQ clear bak home....my Dad was all over Borneo during the war....said there really was a wild man from Borneo...hahaha.......he musta been ur guide for that hunt.....Where are you in the group pic??? I saw your black rifle...is that a Wichita action??? looks pretty nice ......good to get to know uu..Roger

We have a lot of fun when hunting to other islands, plenty of games etc.
I am at the very left in that pic, black shirt.
It's a homemade action & trigger & stock......seb.

What's wrong with 3 digets? I have been there for years, EH!

Mr. Gammon, thanks you for your time in replying this post.

Sure there's nothing wrong with 3 digits, especially for a novice with shallow knowledge/experience like me. That's just my "quest?". I'm coming from half way of the world,.....and I think I "must" also set a goal instead of just to learn & to have a great time.
Please teach me......seb.

Seb, I hear that you need to watch out for Mr. Gammon at the upcoming SS.

Word is he is one of those "4 fingered Canucks" who is always looking for an easy "mark", and will take your money any way that he can. If he wants to bet his "3 digits" vs. your "2 digits", be cautious, and always carry your wallet in your boot, even then it might not be safe when liquor is involved!

Lol.
I wouldn't bet anything with Mr. Gammon......I am just a basic school student, while he is a PhD in BR.
This is true.....seb.
