Scott Dittman won the River Bend Benchrest Shooter of the Year award for the third year in a row. This year he didn't have any close challengers. The award is determined by many points a shooter accumulates during the year with 4 points for a win, 3 for second place and 2 for third.

Saturday we had our last match of the year, shooting score this month. Scott won of course with MIles Gibby in second and Billy Stevens in third. Conditions were bad, starting at 30 degrees and warming up t0 39 during the day with moderate wind. The longer we shot the colder I got. The high point of the day was the beef stew and cornbread lunch furnished by Charlie and Cheryl Hood. Charlie didn't even shoot, they just came to feed the rest of us. Nice people.

Our next match will be in March. I need to build a new rifle.

Congratulations, Scott! :) Bill, I know how ya feel, having you youngster beat you senseless all season - the 'whipper-snappers' pounded me all season too - it made for an enjoyable summer! :D Charlie needs to get a 30BR barrel and step up to the [other] plate next season!:p RG

Congratulations Scott. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

Maybe I can get you to show me how to shoot my old River Bend nemesis, "bench 13" ;):D:D:D.

Jim

Congratulations Scott.

Bill, You shot 107 X's out of 125 total for the postal this year...and you're going to build a new rifle? Watch out competitors.

New rifle

The new rifle is for group matches. That's where I did poorly this year. I do worry about my 30BR though. It has over 4000 rounds on it.

Scott has really been whacking us this year. I am really fortunate  that both of the venues where I shoot BR have some top notch shooters which forces everybody else to raise the level of their game.

I was really looking forward to this match to see if my Cheek 112's were going to be a bit better than what I was using before. Unfortunately I had to go supervise some work at my rental property. Bob Bradshaw has pneumonia so he couldn't make it either.

What were the scores and how many shooters showed up ?
