Scope set screws source

I have a Sightron scope that has the plastic/nylon side and bottom screws like Ratigan shows in his book that he used on his scope.
I am not sure if this was one he fixed or somebody else.
I bought it a few years ago on Ebay.

The problem I have is that the bottom screw is to long and cross threaded.
It is comes almost to the scope base.

I need to find some more of them so I can trim and replace the screw.
Anyone know of a source for these?

You local hdwe store should have an assortment of nylon screws in trays in their nut and bolt section.

I have bought them at Home Depot. Back in the section where the specialty screws are, metrics, allen heads, etc. Ace Hdwe also has them.

Shorten the screw and solve both problems, or does the cross threaded section extend too far.

Jim I have not taken it out yet but most likely.
The way it happend was while at a range trying to sight it in I noticed that the screw was touching the scope base. I asked one of the guys in the range house if they had something I could cut it down with.
THEY ended up using a hacksaw and I ended up cross threading it trying for some great time to get it back in.
I should have left it alone but there was a match the next day and I was (TOO) determined to shoot in it.
I wanted another screw before I took it out and tried to use the proper tool to cut it of with just incase I ruined it or it didnt work.
That way I wouldnt be out in the cold for lack of a screw.

I dont have Home Depot or Lowe's here, but I will be making a trip to the City somethime in the future. Just figured if anyone had an absolute source it would just be quicker and easier to order one online.
