Scope ring question

Good day fellows!


I got a Rem. 700 .308 and a scope with 30mm tube a 50mm lens. Can I use low mounts or will I have to use med. ring or even high rings. Kind of hoping for low so i dont lose MOA put i kind of doubt it. Oh ya almost forgot should I use 1 or 2 piece base.

Your assistant would be appreciated.

You probably will need high or extra high rings to accomodate that 50mm objective lens. Without knowing the scope base dimensions/type you want to use, no one can answer your question with certainty. Also, scope ring manufacturers don't follow any standard as to height, so one make's high is like another's medium, etc. - you have to measure what's available to you. I like 2 piece bases so I can access the magazine and carry the rifle easier (more room for my thumb), but some think the single piece base adds rigidity to the action and want that "advanage".. you need to choose... both work OK.
