I have a savage palma but have an injured arm so I have to shoot off bipod. Along with the palma I have 8-32x56 nightforce and gg&g bipod. I never been to a match and don't want to get laughed off the coarse, so will this set up be competive? Also, is there a good place in Dallas to start to learn the basics of f class...f/tr?

Savage For F-Class

TD:

You are at little to no disadvantage with a Savage. Your only disadvantage will be reading the wind. That will take a little time. My suggestion is to squad up with a seasoned shooter. There is nothing better than a good coach. I would suggest with a new gun to have a good cleaning between matches as you may encounter a little copper with a new factory barrrel.
Good Luck and come to Butner to shoot there will be plenty of Savages on the line.

I've never taken the time to shoot F class myself.
The one thing I'll say is never worry about getting laughed at in ANY type of competition. 1 All shooters started somewhere. 2 F class was designed for just that. 3 NEVER met a shooter more expierienced than myself that would'nt bend over backwards to help.
There simply is no higher class of people on the planet than the people you'll meet on a shooting range in competition.

In another dimension somewhere theres a Savage rifle forum where your gun is posing the question " (Do I have to bring this guy to a range and teach him how its done"?:D:D

Your gun should be ready. Just do it. Have fun and good luck. ;)

For the OP...

Almost that exact set-up... Savage 12 Palma, GG&G bipod, NF NXS 12-42x56... took 3rd F/TR @ the 2008 FCNC in the hands of one Darrell Buell from Team Savage (also the USA F/TR Team Captain).

The rig is not a problem... it's a question of how well you can drive it :D

Good luck,

Monte

Thanks

From what I have seen and read over the past few months the people in competition are some of the best sportsmen I have ever seen. I will try to find some one to show me the ropes, I get the feeling it won't be to hard.
