I bought a Savage Model 12BVSS about 5 years ago in .223 . It is a single shot . For F-Class , I now want one in .308 . The SS in BVSS
stands for stainless and single shot . At least it used to ? On Savages website the Model 12BVSS now lists a internal box mag . and ammo cap. @ 4 . Did
Savage stop making this rifle in single shot ? Savage no longer will accept e-mails ,they want all inquires in the form of a hand written
letter ! Screw you Savage, get with the modern times or I will buy a Remington .

12 bvss

I bought my first Savage, a 12 BVSS in .223 Rem, in 2003 and I believe that was when the accutrigger came out and it had an internal box magazine. As far as I know (but I may be wrong) only the 12 LRP was a single-shot and came out after 2003. - nhk

brudford, Savage is a good rifle, it is amazing how many are on the line at a lot of shoots today and they seem to winning there fair share.

Savage does make a pretty good dedicated F-Class rifle. It's model number is of all things "Model 12 F-Class" it is listed on the Savage web-site. It is a single shot with a 3" forarm and prone type long range stock.

Savage offers sevreal single shot rifles in there target line and a couple in there Varmint Line. They are the F/TR, the Model 12 Palma, 12 F-Class, Model 12 Benchrest, Model 12 LRVP dual Port, Model 12 LRVP Left Port. The "SS" in the model # does not ( I Believe) denote single shot but Stainless Steele.

It seems that today all of the manufacturers are something of a pain to deal with. Savage and for sure Remington fall into that category.

Good Luck making a choice.......

If you want the model 12 in 308 for F class id go with the palma version of the LRPV. Also if you arnt planning on shooting the 223 on the same days a barrel and new bolt head would set you back alot less cash and you would most likely end up with a better end result.

If you are happy with the trigger and stock on your BVSS, then the conversion to a 308 is about $400 away. A bolthead is around $50. Several choices of on quality custom barrels Pre-fit Savage barrels for $350 or less. This is not a swap that requires a gunsmith. It requires some basic tools. Savage put their emphasis on the Target action for the single shots. Luck with your 308, Tim
