is a savage model 12 in .308 a good benchrest rifle?
If you're just talking about placing a rifle on a bench, positioning it in a front and rear rest with the idea of having fun by punching holes in paper, any rifle will do, including a Savage, regardless of model or caliber.

Not a good choice for a competition rifle. That said, I've seen some Savage rifles that shot pretty darn good.
It seems that the model 12's are the gun of choice at factory score benchrest shoots..6BR might be more comfortable even out at 600yds due to less recoil..
