Savage model 112-j action

I have a savage action model 112-J, single shot.
It has a groove extending all the way to receiver face for
the bolt guide. This is quite deep in the treads, reducing
the wall thickness in the receiver ring area. Has anyone encountered
a problem with this action regarding strength?

that groove is for the bolt baffle guide(so it only goes one in one way),,,,,,, never been a problem on my 300WM, or 300RUM, or 270, 223, or 308, or 30br,or,,,,,, you get the message??

the wind is my friend,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

My 112J is only a .223 AI, but it's never caused me any grief.

the barrel does most of the work controlling pressure, so unless you really get crazy i dont believe you'll have any strength related problems with the reciever.

The new savage Long range - left port , right bolt has the same/similar issue. Don't worry about it..
