Savage barrel?

Is 60 pounds to much or to little for a savage barrel. I took the old one off and it was torqued at 100 pounds! In the process of putting the new barrel on.

I've swapped tubes on my Savages countless times.
I do not use a torqe wrench but
theres no need to Gorilla the nut super tight. It will not loosen up.

When I change a barrel on my Savages it usually takes a whack with a dead blow hammer on the end of the wrench to loosen the barrel nut. They're only tightened hand tight then a thump with the heel of my hand when the nut's reinstalled. Factories seem to worry that barrels are going to fall off and have the factory gorilla do the installation.

It's more than enough; mine are snug at approx. 35 to 45 ft/lbs. The factory torques them to 70+ ft/lbs. The first time I changed one I used a torque wrench to get the 'feel' for how much 35 to 45 ft/lbs. was and I've been putting them on snugly ever since. I've never had one loosen using this method.
