Savage Anschutz M64

Hello:

I have a mid-1960's Savage Anschutz M64 which has a single stage trigger and a lowest pull weight of about 25 ounces. It will be a 3-position rifle for a junior and I'd like to get it down to the 8 - 16 ounce range.

Does anyone have experience lowering the pull weight on these triggers? Does the trigger need to be replaced, springs changed, or a lever added? Who would you recommend to do this work? Is a two stage trigger possible?

Leave it as is

The Juniors need to learn with a trigger that is not too light. Really not much you can do with that trigger anyway. As long as it breaks clean the same each time, he/she will be okay.
