Savage 24V

This is a sweet .222 over a .20 gauge. The problem is the .222 keyholes anything from 40 to 60 grain bullets. The bore diameter at the muzzle will take a .220 pin, and almost fit a .221 gauge pin. Does anyone know how the barrel comes out of the, for lack of a better term, action block? I'm thinking of rebarreling it.

Probably not saying anything you haven't already considered....

I'd try slugging the bore to see if the wear is only at the muzzle. Perhaps counter boring the 222 muzzle would be a cheap way out.

Shortening would cut off any choke in the 20 ga barrel.
