Savage .223 bore undersize?

I recently re-chambered a Savage Model 12 .223 to a 22BR..while indicating the barrel in (muzzle in the spider)...I tried to slip the floating pilot of the 22BR reamer into the factory muzzle...it would not go in and would try to bind up if I put pressure on it...
The barrel had been cleaned thoroughly before placing it in the lathe headstock...
The reamer is a PTG 22BR and had been used to chamber a Krieger barrel previously..and the pilot had a very nice fit on the Krieger but would not go into the Savage barrel..
Anyone ever have this kind of experience with a Savage barrel...?

Not sure you have a problem. One size does not fit all. I've got over twenty 22 cal. bushings of different sizes.

Eddie,
You will have to get a smaller bushing. I keep about 10 for each bore size. Barrels of the same brand can vary up to .001.
