hmmm, wish I could find some of those 16 year old pellets.....

And the sad thing for the rest of us is, she has another 3 or 4 sleeves of those killers. :(

San Diego airgun Benchrester's

She keeps them hidden out back some place, she has box's and box's she keeps every thing. well you have 2 weeks just go on ebay and see if someone has lot# 2 and you just might be lucky..and spray that stuff that she uses on them :p see you at the next match,it's going to be the dreaded BR-50 target, so just the hard core will show up. see you then.H.B.:D

....been thinkin'. No, it's not all that hard, s.a. We should probably be shootin' that BR-50 target at 50 yards. I mean, it does say BR-"50", not BR-25.

Wadda ya think Howie? Could separate the men from the, uhhh, women. :D

They are shootin' at 50 yards up in Temecula, are we gonna have them lookin' down thier noses at us??

Well, it's your call afterall, errrrr, Charlenes call I mean! Bwaaaa-hahahaha. :)

Just kiddin' good buddy.....

Best target at 50 yards is the Official NRA A36 target....:D

San Diego benchrest's

I can see it now, but back to what BR-50 is , ok you got the first part , now the second part is 50 targets on a sheet. CF @100 yds ans .22 @50 yds and air @ 25 yds. I have never seen anyone clean a target out side , but for the guys up at wine contry that shoot groups @50 yds this should be a piece of cake to come down here with no wind at all to speak of and clean the target @ 25 yds. of all the guys that shoot up there @50yds maybe one would have a shot at that. but very few come down to shoot our game , so we will never know. Feb 7th is our next match at the police range 4008 federal ave. any thoughts on this?H.B.:)

I think you have slapped them in the face and then thrown the gauntlet to the ground.

That is the classic insult to force your opponent to engage you in personal battle. But don't worry Howard, I will be there, right behind your back. :D

Seriously though, we could shoot the AGBR target and then shoot one for group??

Jist a thought.....

San Diego Airgun Benchrester's

I think your right John , buy I can see it now your going to shoot a 1/4" group at 25 yds .then what? what does that mean ? any way it's the game that scares some people the dreaded BR-50 target on 7th. same place same time , coudn't be easier . see you there buddy. tell all your friends. and stay out of the rain.H.B.;)

HB...your format is fine..no need to change...
....as far as the "guys" up north, most live/compete in FT up there near Prado/Angeles in their areas...plus a few drive south to Temecula for benchrest....

So...logistically speaking......making a 350+ mile round trip to San Diego for a 4 hour event is a bit much....

I have gone to both Prado/Angeles,so can appreciate the travel issue...

Did you think most lived in Temecula area..???

Looking forward to it....and I'll bring camera...

Come on man, where is the dedication? Those .22 rf shooters regularly drive all night and day to attend an ARA or RBA or NBA matc..., doh! - that's basketball. But you get the picture. These Airgun shooters are just plain lazy. If it aint in thier back yard they come up with some flimsy excuse like dysentery or something.

And talk about some tight wads!! If they gotta pay 10 bucks for the match you'd think they was going into bankruptcy.

Seriously though, we gotta help out these Match Director guys. A lot of the money to run the matches, and in some cases the range itself, are being funded by dedicated folks who step up and run the match. It aint easy and it aint all that cheap, so come on guys lets do our part. :)

Oil

Is the lube that you and Frank are using TOP SECERT or can you tell a fellow what it is?

If I chilled out any more, I would be room temp. C'mon Richard, don't you think the guys running the Match need some help? I know you have pitched in, but there are a lot of folks who have never run a match or even helped out. Thats what I was getting at....

Well "gordon"

I know what it takes to "chip in", work hard, and run a match. but I also know that haranguing or trying to belittle wouldbe competitors isnt the best way to increase attendance.

Frankly, thats a bit of what I've seen in some of the "San Diego" threads, is snide backbiting and challenging, seemingly in an effort to draw the "Wine Country Crowd" down to San Diego to prove they arent chicken or whatever.

The guys that shoot here in the wine country all travel well over a hundred miles on match day, most more like two hundred, and they all chip in with setup and teardown, and many even helped build the range. the aso all chip in after the match with foo, drink, cooking duty, whatever, and we have a fine old time. As you know, I've invested a pretty fair chunk of time and money in my new hobby of airgun benchrest, but there has ALSO been a fair investment by some of the regulars, as its THIR place to shoot as well.

Well, as you know, I was down to shoot with the San Diego crowd about a half dozen times, but I've gradually been turned off by the attitude of the MDs there recently, esp all the strange talk about being scairt of BR50, secret lubes, yada yada.

Seriously, mild jabs are fine among folks that actually know each other, and have some sort of longterm experience with each other, but this? I don't see it face to face from them, only on this forum, how cum?

Not singling you out, just letting you know some reasons why THIS "crowd" hasnt been showing up anymore.

BTW, it seemed clear to me that the sudden intro of the BR50 targets was aimed at telling folks with 5mm or .22 cal they really need not come over anymore.

Don't take this real serious ... just venting

Larry, I personally brought rimfire benchrest back to San Diego, and later Airgun Benchrest. With the help of my late friend Mike Desaire, we built the range that you have shot on a couple of times, and were the first to ever have sanctioned National matches in San Diego County. We built the best benches I have ever shot on. We were handcuffed as to the cover, but the backers and benches are the best you will find on the left coast, and from what I have heard most of the right coast also.

I have brought up a concrete/rebar benchrest table top and given it to you, in addition to other items, so what the hell am I doing wrong? How am I belittling would be competitors??

And what the heck is this reference to "strange talk" about secret lubes and stuff?? Are you losing your mind? The only reference I can find is some jokes made online.

All I have done is try to advance the game. Singling me out for your current "vent" is just wrong.

Check out my record on running Matches, and doing Jr. Events, and teaching Safety Classes, and my time on the BOD at P2k Range, and tell me if you can match that commitment?

I was looking forward to your next match, but now feel very sour about the whole deal. So be it.

So, when I say "not singling you out"

You ask why I'm singling you out?

Well, I guess now I WILL single you out.

Yes, I went to your range, it was nice, especially the benches (the backers not so much). BUT, any time you had a match and I didnt show with whoever I could wheedle to come with me, we was the bad guys for causing you to go "outta pocket"!

And yes, I felt $20 bucks was a lot, yet you were going outta the way to make us all feel guilty because you were saying that was barely half of it or sumthin.

Maybe I AM losing my mind .... I was charging $5.00 a head, but most a that was for food, drink, propane, diesel and weedkiller, yada yada. This year though, times are hard, and I just spent some more money grading and prepping the on the new range, so I'm uppin it to $7.00!

And, the bench you gave me about a year ago? Yes I thanked you for it, I guess not often enough, as you have mentioned it several times. Fact is, its not been used in a match here yet. If you need it, come and get it if it will make you feel better. I know I told you several of us had chipped in and made the other benches we have all been using.
