Salem NY State and NE Reg. UL Yards and Meters Results, Two World Records

What a weekend at Salem! We had 14 shooters for the Yards matches on Sat. and 15 for the Meters matches on Sunday. It started out hot and got hotter as the weekend wore on, with conditions getting just plain weird by Sunday afternoon. We had two new potential Meters World Records shot today(if the IR50/50 website is up to date), with Penny Hadfield shooting a 250-22X on UL-1 in 9 minutes in the NY State Meters UL Championship, one of only three 250's shot at meters, and Dan Gibeault shooting a 749-52X agg to win the NY State UL Meters match, shooting the other two 250's. Not only did he win that match, he also won the NE Reg. UL Yards and the NY State UL Meters matches. He only dropped 11 total points on 12 targets in conditions that had most of the us stumped!

I'd like to thank everyone for coming and for all of your support and help! I'm in the middle of packing for vacation, but will try to get some pictures posted while I'm away. I know Al and Pete got some good pics, too. Feel free to post them, guys!

Here are some photos from the match. The one picture I should have taken was one of the thermometer!

Great photos Al! The get-together at Todd and Cathy's was real nice.

Todd,
Thanks for putting together a wonderful match. Everything went like clockwork!!

It was nice to meet all the folks in IR 50/50 that I haven't crossed paths with before, or haven't seen since last year.

Penny - That 250-22 is well deserved on your part. Congrats.

Dan - What a 12 target run for you!!! While the rest of us whined about ghost breezes and mystery switches, you just hunkered down and dropped only 11 points over 300 bulls. That's some fine shooting. Sometime you need to teach me how to read non-conditions.

Other than the heat could have been dialed down 15 degrees or so, I had a great time with good folks. Thanks to all.

Best,
Michael

P.S. Cherie you were missed. I did my best to keep Ken in line.

Congratulations in order for Penny and Dan! Todd, ya done good, the cookout was great, no shortage of food there. Had a good time inspite of the heat. I'll agree with Mike, it could have been a few degrees cooler. Check out the wet shirts in the pics at the wailling wall, it wasn't raining!

It's good to shoot with friends we seldom see.

Ken

great photos !

Content is what this place needs more of !!

and dancin girls:D

I'm glad everyone had a good time, other than it being so dang hot! I'm at the coast in Maine right now, and guess what? It's even hotter here than it was at Salem last weekend! I'm thinking the TMM match will be in May next year:D
Todd

Thanks all!

It was a great weekend of shooting...might have been enjoyed a little more if it had been 20 degrees cooler, but no choice on that!

Todd...you ran a great match, scoring was excellent and all ran smoothly and spiffily...Sat night party was lovely!

Dan...congratulations on your record agg...you kept going while the rest of us melted down!

How about September next year Todd? Penny

Y'all keep shooting better and better

Is Ken pointing to the one that "done him in"?

Hey Al...is there an easy way to make that collage of pictures? Hope I spelled collage somewhere close to right...

Hi Wilbur,

I know Penny sent you the details via email on Photomerge. Just so folks don't think we are ignoring you here is the basic info. We use Adobe Photoshop Elements. We work over the picture as to brightness and contrast and each picture is reduced to a manageable file size. To give you an idea the fist set of pictures were reduced to "600" whatevers each picture. They were a bit larger than I wanted so the pictures in the second set were reduce to "300" thingys. Then the whole thing was "Save for Web" which reduces the overall pixels yet more. Clear as mud? :D

Al

Thanks!

Didn't know that feature existed but found it in Photoshop. Took about a minute to figure out how to use it and I'm good to go. That's easier that uploading files one at the time and more convenient to all involved.

Is Ken pointing to the one that "done him in"?.

Wilbur,

Which picture are you talking about, the one of Ken pointing to his target, or the one of him with his finger aside of his head? Cause either could have been what did him in!

And yes, it was a great weekend of shooting, seeing old friends and sharing in some of the joy and frustrations of trying to achieve that big match mind-set. Glad I was there for at least part of it to share in some of the fun.
