What a day we had at Salem today. We had 10 shooters for both matches, and I thank you all for not packing up and leaving after the 3-gun match...or during it! The weather report was calling for a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning with showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. WRONG! It started raining just before the beginning of the 3-gun match, and we had almost constant thunder and lightning during the match. It rained so hard it washed my dog Bear out from under the truck. The match ran a little long, as nobody was in a hurry to retrieve or set targets during the heavier downpours.

Bob Bain shot a very nice Sporter target to win that class, while Ken Henderson shot a 250-13X to win 10.5, and the Eck brothers kicked butt in the 13.5, with Mel's 250-17X only good for second place to Gordons 250-20X. Paul Bendix shot a pair of 249-17X's with a rusty old Calfee Turbo;) Ken Henderson won the match with a 743-35X.

By the time we finished lunch, the sun had come out and the flags started to dry out. There was a little more breeze during the UL match, but not all the time. Gordon won UL-1 with a 249-12X. Tim Wagner and I shot our first 250's of the year, with Tim winning with a 16X to my 13X. Bob Bain shot a 249-21X to win UL-3 and also won the match with a 746-49X.

Thanks again to everyone for hanging in there, and to Mel for handling the indoor barbecue and Tim and Pete for helping with the scoring, and to everyone who helped clean up after the match.

What a bunch of troopers! I really enjoy shooting at Salem and the great people that attend this match. Even with the torrential rain, nobody got grumpy (except I think Ken was whining about Gordon, but that's par for the course).

Congrats to all who shot the 250's, you guys pulled off some good targets.
And a special note to Paul Bendix -- your scores are consistently getting higher with each match this year!!

Looking forward to the next one at Salem!
Todd - on my schedule I show a Salem match for 7/27, but it's no longer on the 50/50 online schedule, so that one must have been pulled. Probably the wedding took priority? --- so the next one I see is 8/16 with a Holbrook match the next day.

Best,
Michael

Todd,
I think I will only shoot when its raining. I had never seen the rain covers you use at Salem. I will have to make some for holbrook. The sun came out and my scores went to crap. Good shooting everyone lots of 250's
Congrats to Tim and Todd for their first 250 of the year, also to Ken, Gordon and Mel for 250's. Great shooting everyone! see you at the Tom Miller.
Paul

Congratulations to Robert, Gordon, Tim, and Ken...Grinners all.

Mel, who would have thought just a few short years ago a 250 17X would be good for a second place...good shooting.

Todd that's the first 250 of the season, but I'm sure not the last...Maybe at Pinnacle Mountain?

Paul you are doing good with those “Bucket o’ Bullets”!

Penny and I are looking fowrward to seein all you 'Yorkers in August.

Al

Dadburnit Gordon, now I have to shoot a 250 21x's to beat you. Almost had it Saturday. I had a 249 21x's. I'll have to try a little harder.
Great shooting all.

You know Jim, that fact didn't go unmentioned! Like
Al said, the boys was grinning!:D

Ken

I'm sure of that,KEn. The boy is making it rough on us old guys. You have realy come alive this year, Ken. Keep up the good work.
Jim
Mel, put the hurts on Gordon for me.At least reach over and knock him sideways.
Good shooting, Jim

Wow, those sounded like quite the conditions, and congratulations to all who endured them!

Todd, sounds like you may be warmed up enough to finally pull off that first Pinnacle 250 next weekend.

Paul, glad that rusty ol' turbo is shooting so well for you. Maybe you can gain a few extra points by leaving out in the rain between relays next time.

Ken and Cheri, hope to see you before too long.

And, to all the rest, glad you all had such a good time.

Dave

Al, looking forward to seeing you and Penny at the Tom miller. Had a lot of fun sharing a bench with you last year.
As Mike said Salem is a good fun bunch to shoot with. Even ole Ken Henderson:D
Hell Pepper you will beat that in the next two weeks

Gordon,
You are just plain tough. The war is on. I've got some good ammo that I will send you to finish the year with. I think you will like it.
