We had a good day today at Salem. Conditions ranged from 2-5mph switchy winds in the morning to darn near dead calm in the afternoon. Most of us struggled a bit with those gremlins that come along with a dead calm, but Bob Raide made the 4.5hr ride over to Salem today to put on a shooting clinic for us. He won 5 out of 6 targets, won both the 3-gun and UL matches and only dropped 4 points all day. He shot UL-3 in about 6 minutes to shoot a World Record tying 250-24X on his way to a 748-60X agg Awesome shooting, Bob!!
The only person to beat Bob today was local shooter Ralph Vecchio, who shot his 1st and 2nd IR50/50 250's today. Ralph bought the Suhl I had for sale recently on BRC...If I'd known it shot that good I'd have kept it, or at least charged him more for it I was happy to see Ralph wring out the rifles' true potential. I probably wouldn't have thought to try Lapua Center-X in it. I'm looking forward to scoring many more 250 targets for Ralph!
Thanks again to all the shooters for making the matches at Salem as much fun to run as they are to shoot and for everyone's help with set-up, scoring and clean-up after the match
