Sako extractors

Can anyone tell me who makes and where to get a very small Sako style extractor? Brownells and Midway do not give any dimentions for the ones they sell so I have no way of knowing the smallest one.

Building a 17 hornet on an old rem 580 action and the bolt head dia is only .650 so I need a very slim extractor. PTG makes 3 models all for rem 700 bolt. Tubb makes 4 models also for 700 bolt. Does anyone know what would be the thinest? Are there any others out there?

The one that Pacific makes for the .222 size cases is the smallest one. It's a little shorter than their medium extractor. I don't know whether it's thinner or not as I don't have one here to measure. The medium extractors are about .175" in width.

I have all three sizes at my shop, and can get you a measurement. But there is a third option. Use a modified M-16 extractor. They have a retaining pin and may be a little tougher in case of a catrstrophic event. PT&G sells both the extractor and the milling jig.

Maybe you can check with P.T. and G. They might install a mini 16 extractor for you. I have one on a 700 bolt I purchased from P.T. and G. I,m with Rustystud on the mini 16 extractor. In case of a failure I don,t think the 16 extractor would fail. If was recomended by Dave Kiff at P.T. and G.. It the same thing used on a AR-15. It works well on a AR.
