Safe or not?

I had to machine the shoulder back and fit a spacer on this M1a1 bbl since too much was taken off the shoulder and front right was past 12 oclock. I think its ok?

There is no reason...

why a properly made and fitted spacer would result in an unsafe condition. Depending on how far over-clocked a barrel may be on initial fitting, it is more usual to peen or roll the shoulder of the barrel shank to produce a tighter fit.

Hi Ben,

Knowing your work with rifles, you will be just fine.

Are you on land permanently now? or just visiting.

Bob

Check out an old style double lugged M14NM. The front lug was a bent spacer that had a bolt hole threaded in it.

Hey Bob, Good to hear from you.

I've been working primarily ashore with occasional offshore visit.. for about 13 years ... in Houston, Norway, Singapore and Korea. I get to Maine 3-4 months a year.

The rifle turned out fine. Seems to shoot really well.
