I just purchased a new Ruger American rifle in 22-250 for the grandkids. As I was cleaning it I notice the patches went through the bore
very uniformly and absolutely no copper fouling so I used my Hawkeye bore scope to look at it. It was the 2nd smoothest factory barrel
I have ever scoped. The best factory barrel I have ever scoped was a CZ 22 LR.
The chamber was not perfect but again they did better than most factory chambers I have examined, even the CZ 22 LR. Headspace was
virtually spot on, not off by even .001.
The trigger from the factory was awful, so I disassembled polished and lightened the pull to 2 lbs. Sear engagement and over travel are non
adjustable but can be lived with.
We shall see how well it shoots in the next month or so, I will be using a 6X scope so that may be factor with group size.
