Riverbend Group Match

crb

Ray Brooks
Wes Burke topped 5 other BR class shooters to win a well deserved victory in extremely bad conditions. High speed, switchy, letupy [:)] winds all day made life miserable. Avoiding the big disasters was key to finishing on top.

We started at 200 yards and on the first target Ray Brooks picked a good condition to blaze out 5 fast shots out of his Metal Mayhem 30BR to shoot a .450 which was small group at 200. Wes countered with a .451 on the second target and more importantly his biggest 200 yd group was a .727 whereas everyone else but Brooks had at least one group over an inch which shows in the big gap between the top 3 finishers.

200 yd results:

Wes Burke .2861
Ray Brooks .3371
Scott Dittman .4099

Next we moved the target frames up to 100 yds. The wind continued to bedevil everyone. There may have been a couple of good groups shot by running 5 quickly in one condition but there were also a bunch of reverses or letups that caught people out. Lots of '4 and 1' groups shot. The Metal Mayhem pulled off a .225 on the second target which was the small group at 100. A '4 and 1' .602 on target 4 ruined the 30BR's chance to win. 100 yd winner Scott Dittman didn't shoot anything bigger than a .4480 while everyone else had at least one .5XX or bigger.

100 yd results:

Scott Dittman .3624
Wes Burke .3884
Ray Brooks .3924

Grand Agg:

Wes Burke .3373
Ray Brooks .3648
Scott Dittman .3862

We had 2 factory class shooters, one 223 Cooper and one 6BR Savage with Wayne Hunt taking the win with the Savage shooting a .6040 grand agg.
