August 22 was our first Sunday match in the new era of RF BR at River Bend Gun Club. We had 11 shooters, 9 in RBA Unlimited and 2 in RBGC Target Rifle. The weather was pretty nice although it did start to get sticky on the last couple of targets. First shots were fired just after 9:00 and the money was being handed out at 11:30.
The winds were not too bad on the first 2 relays but by the 4th relay there were some gremlins out there messing with the bullets. It was best to wait for the wind to actually show a couple of mph or more before shooting. There was also the usual RBGC mixed up conditions in evidence. I had my four flags showing 6, 9, 3 and 12 o'clock all at once and this lasted at least 20 seconds. Crazy stuff. No 250's were fired.
On the first relay Jody Reed led the way in UNL with a 249-17x, James Garrett and 248-10 and David Kenimer had a 247-9. Dave Rabin had an excellent 247-15 in TR.
In the second relay Ray Brooks shot a 248-10 followed by Alan Rusk with a 247-7 and James Garrett with a 246-11. Dave Rabin's 245-9 was tops in TR.
In the third relay Brian Harvey shot a 249-7 then came Doug Kenimer's 248-17 while Jody and David K. both shot 247-14. Bob 'Pegleg' Bradshaw got the TR honors with a 234-6 while Dave Rabin was being match director. This was Bob's first match back after breaking an 81 year old ankle and everybody was happy to have him back.
On the fourth and final relay Doug Kenimer shot a 248-12, Bill Lovell had a 247-10 and Brian Harvey had a 246-9. Dave Rabin finished off with a 245-10 to top the TR guns.
