River Bend Gun Club's 2019 Centerfire Benchrest Matches Schedule

See attached schedule for the 2019 matches; also, see www.rbgc.org for more information (including directions). I suspect the score matches will be a "hybrid" score match shot on a standard score target (i.e., five record bulls and one sighter bull), but using a caliber-neutral reticle for scoring.

Per Jim Andress, "RBGC matches are open to the public. Matches typically begin at 9:00AM, so arrive early. Cost for non-registered matches is typically $20. RV parking is available."

At some matches, Jim pays money to the winners -- so, don't risk leaving money on the table by not being there.

Jan '19 Match Report

We finally got to shoot a club match again after a three-month absence due to a registered match in Nov and a weather-related cancellation in Dec. The temperature was about 40° all day, but the mild breeze made if very chilly.

We shot "hybrid" score today and had six shooters, including Darren Allen (shooting his second BR match) and Scotty Grimes, both of whom drove over from AL. Thanks to both of you for shooting with us today -- come back soon. Also, thanks to the other shooters for being there today, and to Jim Andress for running the match and scoring.

Scotty was "Top Gun" today (shooting a 30 BR); full results are attached.

BTW, Bill Dittman celebrated his 57th wedding anniversary today, and spent it shooting with us!

Feb '19 Match Report

We had 8 shooters, including Darren Allen and Scotty Grimes, both of whom drove over from AL and Dan Honert who drove down from TN -- thanks for shooting with us today and come back every chance you get.

We shot a hybrid format today; five targets (with five record bulls each) at each yardage scored with UBR methodology -- i.e., using a caliber-neutral reticle with the dot counting as a point. So, the maximum score per target is 55, and 275 per yardage.

Partial results:
100 yd
Daren Allen 271
Scotty Grimes 265
Joe Bougard 265

200 yd
Scott Dittman 260
Dan Honert 255
Alan Wofford 252
Scotty Grimes 252

Total
Soctt Dittman 524
Scotty Grimes 517
Darren Allen 517

Full results are attached.

The weather was chilly and cloudy at the start (~ 43°) but sunny and warmer at the end (~ 58°) -- not too windy. Thanks to RBGC for providing this venue for us to shoot, and thanks to Jim Andress for running the match and scoring, and to all the shooters for being there. It was a nice day.

We're shooting group next month -- come shoot with us.

As noted, Joel Danzig won the Grand Agg and I assume took home the most money for having done so. Here's a note to all the benchrest shooters within "reasonable" driving distance of River Bend -- you're missing a GREAT deal by not shooting the monthly matches with us; the entry fee is low and you have a chance to win some money -- and oftentimes lunch is provided at no charge.

The temperature was ~ 71° at the start and ~ 76° at the end. Thanks to Jim Andress and Bobby Reiber for the chips and grilled hamburgers for lunch; also thanks to RBGC for providing this venue for us to shoot, and thanks to Jim Andress for running the match and scoring, and to all the shooters for being there. It was a nice day.

We'll be shooting score next month (second Sat) -- I suspect we will use IBS targets and a caliber neutral reticle; if you want to win some money come shoot with us.

Oct '19 Match Report

We had seven shooters yesterday, including Stewart White (who was shooting his first BR match at River Bend); Scott Dittman was absent due the funeral of his brother-in-law. We may have had many more shooters if the Dawgs had not been "playing" at home and it had not been opening day of deer season.

We shot a standard score target, but used a caliber-neutral reticle for scoring.

Partial results:

100 yd
Bill Dittman 250-23x
Jack Perry 250-21x
Joe Bougard 250-19x

200 yd
Greg Ellis 248-6x
Joe Bougard 244-5x
Bill Dittman 242-4x

Total
Greg Ellis 497-23x
Joe Bougard 494-24x
Bill Dittman 492-27x

Full results are attached. (Jim Andress was ahead by two points after the eighth target; however he only shot one bull on the ninth target because he overlooked putting powder in his cases.)

The weather was nice (~ 59 at the start and ~ 76° at the finish); the wind was mild in the AM, but picked-up a bit in the PM.

Thanks to Jim Andress for the excellent grilled burgers and chips for lunch; also, thanks to RBGC for providing this venue for us to shoot, and thanks to Jim Andress for running the match and scoring, to those who helped move target frames, and to all the shooters for being there. Nov '19 Match Report

We only had 6 shooters yesterday; the chill in the air must have kept the wannabe shooters away. It was ~ 31° when I pulled in around 8:00 AM, and was ~ 40° when Jim Andress called "commence fire" around 9:00 -- it was ~ 50° at noon. The grand agg was decided on the last target when Bill Dittman let Dave Rabin slip by him for the win.

Partial results -- 100 yard aggs:
1. Dave Rabin - .2470
2. Bill Dittman - .2690
3. Roger Avery - .3536

Dave did some really nice shooting after "stumbling" with a .357 on his first target; he shot three of the remaining small groups -- and had the small group for the yardage -- a .168.

Partial results -- 200 yard aggs:.
1. Roger Avery - .3329
2. Bill Dittman - .3417
3. Dave Rabin - .3569

Roger shot the small group -- a .256

Partial results -- Grand Aggs:
1. Dave Rabin - .3015
2. Bill Dittman - .3054
3. Roger Avery - .3433

Full results are attached.

Thanks again to Jim Andress for the excellent grilled burgers; also thanks to RBGC for providing this venue for us to shoot, and thanks to Jim for running the match, Jim and Scott Dittman for scoring, and to all the shooters for being there. It was a nice day -- chilly, but nice.
