I am in the market for a scope to test 22LR ammo at 50 yards. I will not hunt with this scope. After I decide on a specific ammo I will switch out the scope to a field scope. What scope would you folks use for testing? Thanks...

Don't know what kind of Rim Fire Ammo testing you're gonna be doing. Accuracy, Small Game hunting performance, functionality. If testing for accuracy,I would suggest using what the Rim Fire Benchrest Shooters use on their rigs. They're testing Rim Fire Ammo every time they go to range.

When I was dabbling in Rim Fire Benchrest ,most of the scopes I saw were 36X. I recall one guy who used a 40X March Scope. I've been away from the sport for quite awhile now. You may want to post this question on the Rim Fire Forum.

The higher power scopes allows you to see clearly, whats happening on the target.

Depends what your expectations, your technique & the suitability of your aiming mark.

A lifetime back when I was first working & couldn't afford the makings for my .222 Magnum, I used to shoot 100 yard off a bench with my .22 equipped with a 3-8X Bushnell rimfire scope. I've still got a heap of MOA groups I shot with that rig squirreled away somewhere. I have to admit I threw away a lot more that didn't make the grade.

Maybe what you need is a spotting scope?
