As most of you know, Richard was in a horrific car accident on Thursday 8-6-09. He is still in the hospital and has already had 2 surgeries on his leg with 2 more scheduled. Richard will be out of work for several weeks. Charlie Scott suggested that we start a fund to help Richard out. Some money has already been collected at Darrel Barnes range this last Saturday. Richard may not need the help, but it will still show him that we support him. If you would like to make a donation, you can send the money to me. Make the check payable to me or directly to Richard, whatever you choose.

Just put on the memo line of the check that it is for Richard Gorham.

This will be a Great thing since the driver did not have insurance and Richard will be out of pocket $2300.00 and be only getting 1/3 of what his normal paycheck was and he will not be able to build guns for a while. Any thing will be greatly appreciated.

You know I think this is a good thing to show support for Richard, but I would like to know how a guy gets by without insurance. That car looks to be fairly new, but it's hard to tell. I had to insure an old car that I didn't even drive just because it was licensed, not that I would want to be on the road in an uninsured car anyway. But that's a shame, and it's a pet peeve of mine.

Does anybody know why the guy was on the wrong side of the road. Passing or drinking?

We are waiting on the autopsy to come back. The medical examiner found stitches from a recent surgery. He may have been medicated or had a heart attack or something. Oklahoma has strict insurance laws but the policy had just lapsed July 1st so the state probably had not had time to suspend the license.

A good thing to show support for RG, and a reminder for us all to assure that we have an uninsured motorist rider on our own policy.

Make sure it also covers underinsured drivers...when my wife got hit last year, the other dirivers insurance was exausted by the time the injured got to the hospital.

I was talking with a friend of mine who was an insurance agent, and I was bemoaning my fate--twice we've (wife and I) have been rear-ended since moving to our current town, and both drivers were uninsured!! Well, Ken said "What are you so surprised about? 65% of the drivers in this town are uninsured. They come in, buy a 6-month policy, pay the first months premium so they can register the car or get the safety sticker, and never pay another cent until next year's sticker is due."

Well, last week I went to pay for my new license for my truck and handed the clerk my proof of insurance. She handed it back and said "We don't need them anymore" and as I was working up a good mad, she said "It's all online--I checked and verified that you have insurance when I scanned the bar code on the license renewal." Apparently our law enforcement folks with computers in their cars can do the same thing now--so maybe there is hope!!
