Well, we had our first indoor match since last March, Sunday Feb 14, 2021. It went very well, we all had our masks on and no hugging etc., no handshakes, just a couple gloved hand fist bumps. We welcomed a new shooter to the group, Todd Brown. Todd started into this airgun endeavor by getting rid of a few pest red squirrels, Imagine that…

John Ayers was there just before 8 to open the doors. We quickly got set up as other shooters arrived. It was roughly 9:30 when we did the commence fire for the first match. Eric and I shared my air rifle, so I shot the first match, and he waited to shoot until the second match. Mark King shot very well again, each of his (2) match scores were 298 out of 300, John Ayers was using a 10M rifle, and he was using globe type peep sights. Great shooting with that setup John. Michelle once again shot very well with her factory Diana Skyhawk .177, the indoor game is a little easier without the wind and mirage, but the target is a lot tougher. Eric and I both had 299 out of 300, but neither of us shot 2 matches. So for the Aggregates we showed well back in total scores. Individual match scores put he ahead of me with 2x’s to my 1x. Great shooting Eric. I will show a target below so those of you that haven’t shot this can see the skill and precision required for good scores. It really is a lot of fun. I’m glad John is scoring and not me. I really have no past experience with this A-36 target and the x’s really are hard to understand. All I can tell is that if I shoot all tens I’m bound to have a few X’s.

Todd Brown is already chatting with John, Chris, Mark, Ken and Eric and I about his next pieces of equipment. This should be a fun trip for Todd.

Our next Match is scheduled for March 14, 2021, 8:00 am doors open, 9:30 am shooting starts, 2 sets of three targets, for 2 aggregates with a possible 300-30x, 50 feet, A-36 target.

Added to this email was… I just looked at all our targets with a magnifying glass and I looked at scoring the A-36 target online in order to see what I need to improve. John is spot on, man these Xs are hard to get. Truth is if you want an X you can’t just aim for tens, you truly have to wipe out the whole nine ring. Great scoring John, good eye.

Thank you,

Paul Becigneul
