Results of the Isabella County Sportsman's Club 200 Yd Score & Group Shoot 9-12-2015
The Isabella County Sportsman's Club (Mt. Pleasant, MI) hosted a 200 yard score & group shoot on Saturday, September 12, 2015. Mrs. Mother Nature delivered a very brisk NNE wind with a temperature at game time of 47F. Most everyone was shivering and rubbing their hands together before taking their places at the benches.
A huge thank you to Harry and Fred Ross. Fred was the target detail, driving his trusty truck to and from the targets to the target shack. And a VERY HUGE thank you goes out to Steve Robbins for chasing down all the little requests, problems, and performing as the range officer. His voice sure does carry with that megaphone! (I think I said this before! - Ed.).
Onto the results of the 200 yard score shoot...
Ken Rossing (coming out of a short hiatus) shooting his 'yellow bug' 6PPC put the hurt to the field of 7 shooters and came out on top with his fine 248-7X. Following on Ken's coattails was Matt Dardas (the editor) with a 248-6X. The Expert Class was a tough battle between the members of the famous Holton Gang - Jim Dyke, Dudley Pierce, and Greg Reed. Jim broke the tie with his score of 247-6X. And least but not least, the Sandbagger Class was nailed down by Jeff Schrot. Jeff fired a dang nice 245-4X. The winds were undeniably extremely tricky. It took a good eye and a lot of patience to study the flags and probes to keep the holes near the dot.
And now the results of the 200 yard group shoot (Greg Reed's favorite match!)...
Greg Reed surprised everyone showing up in his BIG RED Machine this morning. He also tattooed and spanked all of us with his excellent 0.2063 aggregate. He darn near did the teeny thing! The Expert Class and coming in second place was the editor (again) with a 0.3110 agg. Nipping at the editor's heels was the pesky Jim Dyke (again) with his fine 0.3127 aggregate. The Sandbagger Class was captured by Jim Militello firing a 0.5509. Small group of the day was shot by Jim Dyke using his Borden 30BR. Greg Reed captured all but the last small group of day with 0.514, 0.320, and 0.269. And Team Albee comprised of Brian and Helen captured the last small group of day with a fine 0.269.
And lastly the combined results of the 200 yard score & group shoots were:
Matt Dardas - 1st place.
Ken Rossing - 2nd place.
This is the last match at the Isabella County Sportsmans Club for 2015. It has been a very fun season there shooting with the best of friends. I am already looking forward to the 2016 season!
Just the messenger boy,
Matt Dardas
