The Holton Gun & Bow Club was host for the August 22, 2015 100 score shoot that commenced firing at 11:00 am. Ten of the finest State of Michigan Score Shooters showed up to battle the Holton swirling winds.
Jeff Aberegg volunteered his professional meteorological knowledge before, during, and after the match. His predictions were 80% correct 10% of the time. He kept telling us 'the conditions aren't that bad' before the relays started and after the relays were completed. We really do appreciate his forecasts!
Jerry Henderson brought to the match one heck of a front rest! The design is very unique and definately drew the attention of some of the shooters. The photo of the rest is attached.
All the shooters would like to thank the Holton Gun & Bow Club for sponsoring this shoot. Special thank you's go out to Jim Dyke for getting up early to truck the target frames down range and scoring targets, Rich Parish, John Inman, and Vic Hall for retrieving and hanging the targets and trucking the target frames back to the barn! Oh, and to Dudley Pierce for holding down the #1 bench for the entire match!
Now onto the results!......
Shooting his trusty little 6PPC, Matt Dardas shot a 250-17X to take the Gold (it's real of course). Editor: I just waited for red Jeff. That's all I did - I just waited for red.
Close on my (Matt's heals) was the 30BR Rimrock Shooter himself, Jim Dyke! Jim netted a fine 250-14X shooting from bench #2 taking home the Silver medal (and that is real silver too!).
In third place was the famous mechanical engineer (designer of the new front rest), Jerry Henderson! Jeff Aberegg's forecasts were keeping Jerry in the hunt until the fourth match. That is when Jeff's radar went Kaputt!
The Expert Class was dominated by Sonny Marvin with his 249-9X (shooting yet another 6PPC!).
And least but not least the winner of the Sandbagger Class was none other than Pat Colwell with his smokin' 242-8X! This was Pat's maiden voyage shooting benchrest. A virgin he is no longer! And he also became Holtonized at the same time!
The next match will be a 200 yard score shoot on September 26, 2015 with the first shot being fired at 11:00 am. Come on out and have a pile of fun!
Just the messenger boy....
