The last match of the Harrison Sportsmans Club Benchrest season has come and gone. It just doesn’t seem possible that we have fired 10 matches and that October is right in our faces! Some of the trees in the area are starting to present their colorful hues of reds and yellows. Now for the long, long wait for May to roll around so that we can begin to shoot benchrest again ‘up north’.
First off, there are many thank you’s well deserved of mentioning. Bill Stiverson for maintaining the target holders, getting the supplies for the scoring shack (coffee, donuts, etc.), and registering shooters. Dick Wright for providing many entertaining stories of deer hunting and scoring targets. Jim Guinn and Charlie Derdoff for running the relays (and there are a few others too that have pitched in also but I can’t remember who they are). And for Brian & Helen Albee for being the ‘weather vane’ by which all others judge whether they are ‘in it or not’.
The Factory Class was all .22’s this time. Winning the Factory Class Jackpine Savage Invitational Trophy was Kurt Krug shooting through the typical Harrison 360 degree winds with a 0.3904”! Second place was commanded by another Jackpine Savage, Doug Mulder punching out his 0.4958” aggregate. And the hand clap (third place) was won by Dan Ryan with his 0.5996”. The Sandbagger Trophy in the Factory Class was awarded to Jim Guinn with his fine 0.7642.
The LV Class was all 6PPC’s. Jim Millitello was the outright winner of the LV Class Jackpine Savage Invitational Trophy. His aggregate of 0.2324” outpaced all other LV guns by far. Matt Dardas came in second place with a 0.2912”. And winning the hand clap in LV was none other than one of those Jackpine Savages, Elton Roundtree with a fine 0.3792”. The Sandbagger Trophy in the LV Class was awarded to Brian Albee and Coach Helen with a fine 0.3952”!
