Things are coming to a close over here for the year.....it was mid 40's this morning, and warmed up to about 55 by the time we were done. If it gets much cooler, it will take the fun out of things. Winds were 3-7mph. We attempted to shoot the 8.44's at a much higher speed to see if they might shoot any better in the wind....around 890fps. They didn't seem to shoot any better, but they did load the barrel up with slivers and create some unexplained shots. I had my first ever "4" on my first card, which ended up scoring as a "3" since I shot the target again. We all shot H&N 10.65's for our last cards, and were really surprised how poorly they handled the wind. They drifted about 50 percent more than the 8.44's.....so I guess the low BC that I calculated was correct. We shot some 50m targets after we were done, and this created the highlight of the day. A daddy long legs spider was on the 50m stand, and Darrin managed to centerpunch his body, leaving only his legs remaining on the first shot.... while Ben watched through the spotting scope. I wish we had caught that on camera.
Anyway, it was a nice morning of shooting.
