Despite a gloomy forecast Saturday turned out to be a very nice day. Results of match as follows...

FACTORY CLASS

Glenn Bechtel........ 487-16X
Steve Robbins....... 483-15X
Harold Bobo.......... 458-13X

UNLIMITED CLASS

Dick Wright......... 500-34X
Jim Hutchison...... 499-27X
Bill Jones............ 498-32X

Several folks came considerable distances to shoot in the Unlimited class. Chuck Langenderf and Bill Jones usually shoot in the Sault. Ste. Marie, MI "Yooper" shoots. They showed up as did Hutch and Larry Gage who came up from the Flint area.

Coffee and donuts were served. After the match we repaired to McFarland's for food and drink. A good time was had by those who attended.

A number of Harrison Sportsman Club members have been practicing and tuning factory class rifles in preparation for this match. Alas, very few of them showed up. Those who did (Harold and Glenn) shot well. They seemed very interested in the Unlimited Class guns that were there to compete.

Winners' equipment...

Unlimited... Rem. 40X by Calfee, Douglas barrel, Fudd tuner and Sightron 36X scope. Shot Eley Red Box.

Factory class.... Ruger 10-22 with Shilen barrel and Leupold 18X scope shooting Eley ammo.

Our next rimfire match is in August.

Great Day

The wind was blowing from the git-go but it was warm and sunny and overall a nice day. This was our first ever rimfire shoot at Harrison so overall we were pretty happy. A few club members showed up as spectators and I think there interest was stimulated. Made some rookies believers in wind flags. "Those dang Whirly gigs ain't just yard ornaments".
A fun time was had by all and we greatly appreciate all that participated.

Friend Dick:

250's are difficult.......500's are extremely difficult.....Congrat's...

Thanks Bill...

Actually a 250 on the 25 yd. target is fairly easy, given an accurate rifle. We use the I.B.S. target which has a 1/2" 10 ring and a 1/16" dot for an "X". It's the easiest official 50 yd. rimfire target I know of and we shoot at both 25 and 50 yds.

I thought I dropped a point at 50 yds. but it plugged well in. I shot my 50 yd. target first when the wind wasn't blowing quite so hard.

The rifle you made years ago shoots incredibly well. I often wonder what it could do in the hands of a better shooter.
