AirGun Benchrest
We held our first ever AirGun Benchrest match on Saturday, March 8th,( Yes it was the eighth even though I kept writing the ninth on everything, oldtimers disease I think the Dr. said, can't remember.) Anyway, it was Saturday I'm pretty sure of that. Conditions were pretty good, just our usual left to right then right to left and back again afternoon breeze with just a touch or two of mirage when the sun peeked out.
Fred had to borrow a rifle for the match as US Customs is holding his English built air rifle locked up, seems that they are afraid this highly powerful pellet gun might be a threat to national security if it fell into the wrong hands! Homeland Security almost put the country on Level Red. He's hoping that by next months match he will be deemed patriotic enough to own such a fearsome weapon.
Unlimited Class Match #1
Fred Leeds 244 4X, 207 6X, 244 2X 695 12X
Arlin Brewer 247 5X, 249 1X, 244 4X 740 10X
Dennis DiFeo 245 2X, 246 4X, 250 6X 741 12X
Match #2
Springer
Dennis DiFeo 236 1X, 327 0X, 237 2X 710 3X
Unlimited
Arlin Brewer 247 1X, 244 1X, 242 4X 733 6X
It should be noted that Fred's score on his second target would have been much better had he shot all 25 bulls instead of only 22 of them. Seems he missed a few trying to switch back and forth from the sighters trying to find a condition that would hold long enough to fire a record shot! Fred did however do an outstanding job of scoring so we had no protests. Now this left Arlin who was the referee with little to do when he wasn't shooting, maybe next time.
Both Arlin and Fred shot FWB P70 FT's, Dennis used a Steyr HP100 in the Unlimited class and an FWB 300 in the Springer class. Next match will be April 12th at 1PM after the ARA match.
The record targets are on the way to AirGunBenchrest for verification.
