Great match ... nice weather for BR, with mild, yet challenging wind shifts to keep us on our toes!

We had a new shooter show up, and a few looky-lou's, plus most of the regulars, with exception of Matt Saenz, who was doing crowd control at the LA Marathon.

Roger Lovett elected to shoot two guns, one in .177 and the other in .22 ... he decided the .22 was easier at the end. Larry Pirrone did pretty well wih his springer, and is hoping others will join him in the spring-piston game sometime.

We really had a great potluck cookout, with lots of different goodies to tempt us. Dave Fredrics and Matt Kellerman did a great job on the grill, with the rest of us coming up with solutions to the Worlds problematic issues while they cooked.

I was flabbergasted to see a tie for first, but TIm says he checked and rechecked, an there it was! We settled it in an equitable way .... I guess, by maig up new rule on the spot ... we compared grops for the first row of bulls ... Roger's looked way tighter, so he won the fame an glory. We shoot ten three shot groups from fifty yards on each of three cards, for total of thirty grops, and the overall scores are the total aggregate measurements center to center of all groups for each shooter.

Shooter Gun Agg. Score

1. Roger Lovette, USFT .22, .49"

2. Larry Durham, USFT .22, .49"

3. Matt Kellerman, USFT .22, .62"

4. John Lucas, FX Hawke .22, .70"

5. Dave Fredrick, USFT .177, .72

6. Richard Woods, Walther Dominator .177, .79

7. Tim McMurray, USFT .22, .83"

8. Roger Lovett, USFT, .177, .89"

9. Larry Pirrone, TX200, .177, .95"

WE seem to be tightening up the spread!

I notice you guys on the other end

Have slid the benches closer to the targets for a advantage?

50 yd matches.

I told you guys that Roger guy was on the move up..looks like nobody can beat this guy...you guys have a long ways to go to catch up now. any way who has the record for this 50 yd group shoot ?:D H.B.
oh btw those are great photos Rich.

Temecula 50 yard record

Matt Saenz has the record for best thirty group ctc aggregate with an amazing .437" AVERAGE. This record, set in our January match, may stand for awhile, as it was fired on the old upper course under pretty good conditions. Matt beat my older record of .441", fired under similar conditions nearly a year ago.

The .490" scores Roger and I shot Sunday are the current records for the new course, which, while fired under the same rules, the new course MAY be slightly harder to "read", though this is likely a temporary situation, as we ARE improving each month.

BTW, Roger says he COULD have done a lot better at your last match, but felt you guys were adverse to him using a .22 cal airgun, so he used his .177, which you can see by his scores, didnt do as well under the same conditions.

The caliber issue isnt clear here though, since one can also see that Dave Fredrick is only a tiny whisper away from the winner's scores with HIS .177!

mar 50 yd match

:) all in all those are very good groups no matter what.i think our last match at the police range was on the AGBR target , un like the dreaded BR-50 target anyone can use .22 cal or .20 even a .177 cal. just don't matter. but shooting on the BR-50 I think it does. worst edge that's what makes it a real challange to shoot even with a sharp eye useing a .177 cal. but with all these new slick guns out now it looks like it would be impossable for someone to come close to winning with a 17 year old gun and pellets to boot. I my self thinks it's the shooter not so much the gun. or is it the lube ? any thought on that? we are off for a few weeks -time to git busy and weigh out some pellets pronto..times a flying.H.B.:D

Between shooting both 25 yard and 50 yard benchrest and some observations I've made,it's the shooter mainly...and the shooters ability to 'read" the wind..although certain shooting positions are definately an advantage at the SDPD range..(same thing at the PK2000 range in El Cajon)..

.. at LD's range condtions are tough from any bench and very difficult to predict...

50yd match

It looks like the sweet spot at the police range is any place that John or Charline sit..:D

Which is why I mentioned "shooters ability" over equipment...:D

Masters..

Leaving next week for Augusta,Ga...(my son got tickets to the Masters)..

Return April 15 in time for the Temecula Challenge on April 17 & 18..so looks like May before I can get back to SDPD..then gone again in June for the U.S. Open..

BTW, we won't have the regualr BR match in April

As my annual Field Target match is on that weekend. We will prolly do some shooting off the benches that weekend, but not a regular match or anything.
