Rest case

Looking for a case to put my Sinclair competition rest & hopefully rear bag in to transport back & forth to matches. Any ideas?

Put wheels on it.

If you're going to put them both in one box, either put wheels on it or get a cart. I put my Protektor Doctor with Handle in it's own Stanley tool box where I also put ear muffs, ammo and various light odds and ends. The bag alone weighs 22 pounds. For my rest I built a custom box that holds both my Shade Tree joystick top and a windage top. That's another 20 pounds. To take things to the line, I use a Foldit cart from Kotulas.com. I highly recommend it for bench rest, service rifle and F-class. I also use a doctor's exam stool on which I built a platform on top of the legs. When my relay is done, I put the rest on the seat and ammo, timer, bag and everything else on the platform. I then just roll it out of the way.

If it's just transporting to and from the range, not from the car or truck to the bench, I use one of these for my John Loh front rest, rear bag, and a few other items, just so they're not sliding around in the trunk: http://www.spacesavers.com/Storage/...ampaign=feed&gclid=COv0nsz__bYCFUFo4AodJ1IAIw At my range I can back my car right up to the back of the bench, within 5 or 6 feet, and unload.

Some stuff is as good but none better than an "Action Packer" - I think Rubbermaid makes 'em. Not talking about the big one but the one that's about as wide as my Aunt Martha's face eatin' watermelon. If you have more than can fit into this thing, then get rid of some stuff. Remember that you're not gonna feel this good in about 40 years and that 40 years from now is no time to be re-learning how to shoot from regular ol' benchrest stuff. Look around...folks are beating you with less.

Also, when you're far away from the firing line (think Super Shoot) and it blows up a "frog strangler", you'll be happy that your stuff is inside something with a lid on it. It rained so hard in Reidsville once that my rear bag floated away - Heavy sand and all...Keith Gantt stood there and watched it. Had it not been for the "bolts in rifle" rule I woulda shot him.

No need to adapt anything

My most recent purchase was a Seb Max rest. It's weight meant I neded a case with wheels on it to transport everywhere. I went to my local supplier for Pelican and the range of cases now available was staggering. They soon found a suitable case and then water jet cut some really dense foam ( almost resembles soft wood ) to fit it and the case. Looks great works perfectly. No need to adapt anything just get the right tool for the job.
Andy.
