Picked up a 99.9% Remington 40XRB in 7.62 Nato on a trade, Remington green McMillian stock, stainless heavy barrel, S# 0607XXB, rifle has fewer than 20 rounds through it. Barrel date stamped AP, (March, 1995?) Has a 36X Leupold scope. Any idea of value? May need to sell this one to help fund another project. Thanks for any assistance.

You could get an idea what folks are asking for them by checking gunbroker and gunsamerica

Thanks, Did try but cannot find one listed on Gunbroker, there is one on Gunsamerica with a gray instead of green stock in .243, has a similar scope, is called as in like new condition for $2500. Have never seen one around here for sale.

Estimate

I would estimate the gun itself is work $1200 and the scope about $600.

Just a ballpark estimate,

George

Thanks,

George, Close figuring, have a local offer on rifle for $1800 w/scope, the potential buyer is offering $1400 on the rifle, $400. on the scope (suspect he has another scope in mind for the rifle).

Might sell the rifle and keep the scope.

But the $2500 price on Gunamerica sounded a little better. :). Might try listing this one on Gunbroker.

Thanks again

Remington 40-XBBR KS

Picked up a new Blue Book of Gun Values this week, was surprised to find this rifle (a Model 40-XBBR KS) listed as follows:

Suggested Factory list new $3,806.

100% $3,300, 98% $2,900, Rifle is in 99.9+% condition with a Leupold 36X Bench rest scope.

Add $200 for the factory 2 ounce trigger

Maybe I shoud buy a new Blue Book a least every 5 years. :).

One can buy a true Benchrest rifle, custom made for less than that. One can also buy that same trigger for less than $200.

That "Blue Book" should be called "Pipe-Dream Book". The $$ listed there is for sellers only. The guns rarely bring those prices on the street.

I've seen dealers @ gun shows loose sales because they think that book should be respects like the family bible.

Actual selling prices on gunbroker, etc will give ideas what the true market price is.
