I`m new to Benchrest Center Forum and not a benchrest shooter or a gunsmith. I purchased a Rem. 700 SPSV in a 204 with a X-Mark Pro Trigger. When I tried to ajust the trigger the overtravel set screw broke and is still tight. Can someone tell me if it has a lock nut on it, how to get the set screw out, and where to buy a new one?

If it is a new gun, I'd send it back to Remington and let them worry about it.

Get authorization from them before shipping though.

I was told that Remington would put a new trigger in it,charge me $90.00 and send it back.

New Remington Trigger

Remington is putting some ind of plating on therie triggers besides what appears to be epoxy in the threads. There new trigger is a bigger POS than their prior to last triggers. I used acetone and cleaned the threaded screw hole out. Then I soaked a custmers trigger for 24 hours in Kroil. The back scew would still not budge I inserted an allen wrench into the set screw. I heated the allen wrench with a propane torch until it wa cherry red for about 30 seconds. As it cooled I squirted it down with Kroil again. I got the set screw where it would turn about 1 turn and go not further. The the allen wrench snapped and went through my finger. I have decided to quit wasting my time and customers money on Remingtons POS trigger. JEWEL is the way to go.
