Rem 700 VLS accuracy in 308

I have been working with a Remington 700 vls which is all factory except a lighter pull on the trigger. Have been having some trouble with reloads so decided to run some Federal Gold through the bore. Attached are the results at 100 yds. Groups measure .13MOA and .458 respectively. There is a fouling shot low on the target followed by the two three shot strings. I have to say I am at a novice off the bench but am looking for some insight into what is going on. The third string did rise and I am wondering if it is possible because the barrel is not free floated or is it because I held it differently. I have tried various methods for holding and am not sure which works the best. I am shooting from a Led Sled with the barrel strapped down on the fore rest. Not that crazy about the sled and am thinking about switching to bags.

It would be great to find someone near me for advice but that is not the case

Yes... Switch... Simple bags.. Forend and @ the butt would be more consistent.... These sled rests I have seen cause MORE trouble than they are worth...

Gun may be a shooter... Eventually get a good front rest and rear bag... BR shooter do it for a reason..

Can you recommend some good bags? There are tons to choose from.

Yes there are... Just look around here (BRC) and you'll see plenty of recommendations... Front rest / rear bench bag that is.

But I was simply recommending actual sand bags over the sled thing.... Get an ole pair of blue jeans cut of legs and stitch up the ends (fill with play sand then epoxy the poor hole)...

simple and works well.

May try a good bi-pod for the front.....?
