Rem 700 Extractor?

The gun is a Rem 700 243 youth model. I picked it up as a compact light carry gun for Yodel dogs.

Since I have the reamer I am thinking of putting a Sporter weight 20" barrel on it in 6PPC to shoot the light bullets.

Will it work with the factory extractor or does someone make a oversized extractor that could be used?

I'd spend the extra $175.00 and get myself a 6mmBR reamer and go gauge. You could still shoot light bullets. I dont think the extractor will work reliably from a .473" bolt face to .430" PPC.

Just had a XP barrel chambered in PPC. a new factory extractor was required (because the old was wore so bad) and it pulls the ppc with no problems. It's not shot with a hot load but a good stiff one.

PPC = .440 "308" = .470" [ both just measured. ]. .030" diameter diff = .015" radius difference. Probably work just fine, especially if you remove the ejector.

I did a Savage bolt head conversion and used a 308 bolt head for my Beggs build. The std Savage extractor seemed to pull the cases most of the time but I already had the longer SSS extractor on hand so I am using it.
