There seems to be a lot of controversy about using Rem 6-1/2 primers in 223. Rem apparently recommends against it. Others say keep the pressure down and no problem. Anyone have any experience good or bad.
Remington originally brought out the 7 1/2 when the 6 1/2's couldn't take the pressure of the .222. If you loaded the .223 to .222 velocities they'd maybe be okay, if you load your .223 to standard .223 velocities and pressures you'll likely blow primers.
I have used 6&1/2 primers with 25grs Blc2 ,and a 55gr Nozler BT and had no problem. But I am sure that you won't get the preformance out of this primer that you should. I have used them in my Striker and my rifles, and they work.
