Has anyone used Reloder 17 for their 243 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor handloads? If so, how does it compare to H4350?

As close to identical as two brands of powder can get. I bought 3 jugs, 2 lots, because people I trusted told me "you'll easily get 150fps more than H4350"....

Not True.

I burned that 15lb as quickly as possible and don't anticipate ever buying more.

IMO, "it's H4350"

(Not really, that's an expression.....it bulks differently. All's I'm saying is "if RL17 will do it, H4350 will do it and if H4350 will do it, RL17 will do it")

opinionby (only based on 15lb)

Yep in a 243

Yep I shot RE#17 in a 243. A trued sleeved Rem 700 that I inherited from my late father. The 100 yard groups with 80gn bullets looked promising. But that's where it ended.Even with the 8 twist barrel the heavier bullets and ranges beyond 100 weren't worth talking about.
Best load was Lapua 105gn using 44gn of ADI 2213sc. Managed to keep 4 of the 5 groups under the inch at 300yds.

Reloder 17 Experience with 6.5 Creedmoor

I have not evaluated Reloder 17 with a chronograph however I have been pleased with the accuracy from the bench when I'm on the 100 meter rifle range. Shot a .267" three shot group with my 6.5 Creedmoor a few weeks ago using 43.5 grains of Reloder 17 and a 120 grain Hornady A-Max bullet seated .020" off the lands. I'm using Hornady brass and I'm very meticulous when it comes to case preparation and powder charges.

I have shot 42.5 H-4350 43.3 Rel 17..2 " - .350" groups were not uncommon . Rifle: Rem 700 S/A, Trued by the late Bill Saxton. About 3 yrs ago, Tim Gardner chambered a 6.5 Creedmoor barrel, 8 twist Douglas , HV barrel. Have not shot lately due to eye problems, but I thought the groups it produced were more than satisfactory, w/both powders. I have a friend w/very same set up. His rifle shoots great w/H-4350 and .400" to 1/2" w/reloader 17. His likes 130 Bergers,, mine likes 140 Sierras & 140 Hornady BTHP match
