Reflections from the Shamrock - Jeff Summers, Jim Carmichel and other winners

The full results should be posted later, but I must congratulate Jeff Summers on a great 2-gun win. As usual, he made very few mistakes and shot well if not always tiny (the recipe for 2-gun wins). Mr. Summers is tough at any range at which he competes-and that has been the case for decades.

On to Mr. Jim Carmichel. He is sometimes referred to as "the only gun writer that can shoot". Well shoot he can...and a possible LV100 aggregate World Record to boot. The standing LV100 agg record was set in the last century: 1994 by Jef Fowler. It was a .1500 aggregate. Jim shot a range-measured .1328 with a set of boringly beautiful targets...dots all. The NBRSA Records Committee headed by Gene Bukys (his committee membership includes IBS Records Committee Chair Kent Harshman) will deliver the official verdict. As an aside, head scorer Gordon Earp is among the elite, so we shall see. If I were a betting man, I believe it will hold up.

Congratulations to the other winners: Matthew Keller with a fine .1650 HV100 agg. Jack Neary took the HV200. Conditions on Sunday were rather "sporting" and coolish as opposed to Saturday's benevolent zephyrs in the 100 yard contest. See the attach photo for a smorgasbord of conditions that your could choose from on Sunday afternoon while peering down at your 200 yard target.

Also the winners in the Grands were Allen Arnette and Lee Hachigan. Both shoot VERY well in Dublin.

This was a World Team points match so attendance was up from last year (maybe 20 or so?) for a total of 91, I think. MGGOA had shooters from Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and the rest of the usual suspects.

The MGGOA team did their usual top-notch job of hosting and putting on a great match.

BAT in a Leonard stock. Krieger barrel hosting Lowell Hottenstein bullets powered by VV133 (maybe Jim's usual charge of 29.4?). I THINK Dwight Scott did that barrel, but I ready to be swatted down.

Jeff, do you know if it was a modified Bat that Summers was using? Just curious.

I was speaking of Jim Carmichel's rifle not Jeff Summers'. I am not sure what Jeff was shooting. Carcmichel's may have had Dwight's fire control mod - Jerry Sharrett should know.

jks

OK, Mr Stover. I'll jump in here now that I have time.
(I've been too busy answering their fan mail to respond earlier!!)

As the spiritual leader of these two great shooters I am not at liberty to disclose what these two used.

Jeff,

It needs to be said.....Congrats on your yardage win and the 6th place two gun.

Congrats to Jeff Summers for another fine win. Jim C. great agg, your groups show what consistancy can do. Congrats to all the other winners also and also to Mark Harpenua...nice job my friend.

The shamrock was very well ran by some of the nicest people you will ever meet, thanks for an enjoyable weekend.
