Redfield Palma sights on 40XB

Can anyone confirm if the Redfield Palma rear iron sight will fit and work on the 40XB (700 short action).

I have been told that they will not fit the 40XB (only the 40X 722 action) because the 40XB receiver is much wider than the 40X.

From what I understand from several sources, this is not the case and the Palma will fit and work fine on either the Remington 40X or 40XB.
