Hello
I´m starting in benchrest.
I want a hunter benchrest riflescope for my Remington 700 vs.
The scope must be fixed 6x of course, and light.

Ruled out scopes:
-Sightron SII 6x42HBRD: Too heavy for my rifle (more than 10lb with this scope), and the reticle uses a dot, I think it´s better a fine crosshair or duplex.
-FX-III 6x42mm Adj. Obj. Competition Hunter: Too heavy for my rifle more, than 10lb with this scope.
-Weaver T 6x40: Too heavy for my rifle (more than 10lb with this scope), and the reticle uses a dot, I think it´s better a fine crosshair or duplex.

Possible options:
-Sightron SII642
-Leupold FIII 6X42
-WEAVER K 6 Pros light (9,8 oz) and cheap (130$)
-Burris 6X HBR II: Light (13,6) but almost in the limit of weight (13,8)

The scope can´t weight more than 13,8oz

What´s the best option?
Please tell me if there is better options
Thanks a lot

I've used both the Burris and Leupold HBR scopes on my Hunter rifles. They both work well. I am able to get a better image with the Leupold, possibly due to its larger objective lens and overall quality. Some Burris HBR scopes have indistinct clicks. The newest Leupold HBRs have 1/8 MOA adjustments which is desirable. Good shooting, Ed

I see this is your first post. Are you going to be shooting registered matches or just club shoots? You want to make sure that the events you have in mind actually have HBR shooters coming out.

Thank you for your responses
I´m going to be shoooting in both levels of competition.

May be hard to find, but a Unertyl Condor 6X would make a great hunter class scope. I sold one to Hoke Kerns for that purpose. It is a light scope and the optics are great.

Burris

Would go for a Burris with a dot. Lightweight, good quality, good price. Have one myself.

Enjoy your shooting.

JARPUN:

A serious Hunter Benchrest 6 power scope must have an adjustable objective to allow you to remove parallax, so this immediately eliminates several of your choices.

If your rig is a pretty much stock Remington VLS, it's going to be very, very hard to get a proper scope on it and remain under the 10 lb. weight rule. There are a few different areas where you can probably shed some additional oz. if that's the case....we can sure offer some suggestions if we know a bit more about the rig and what you're planning to use for bases, rings, etc, etc.

Probably the two best options at this time for a scope are the Leupold FXIII and the Burris HBRII. Regrettably, Sightron has decided to discontinue their excellent 6HBR scope, as has Weaver with their T6. Both can still be found new with a bit of digging, though.

Hope this helps. -Al
