Rechamber a 22BR to 22-250 ACK?

Looking at the BR and 22-250 chamber prints the BR case tapers to around .458" at the neck at 1.0748", the 22-250 tapers to .4142" @ 1.515" with this and some rough figures the 22-250 chamber around the 1.0748" point would be around .418" where the BR chamber is .458" so you will have to at least shift the chamber forward enough to eliminate a bulging chamber in the new chamber job. I would venture to think that if you were to just remove the tenon and re-thread and chamber in 22-250 would go without a hitch. Of course barrel profile and size present will all need to be factored.

I a looking at a standard 22-250 print, I do not have a 22-250AI to compare. Usually the only difference would be that the .4142" dimension would just be blown forward to get to the 40 degree shoulder for the Ackley. I am assuming this is a remington or simular action? If it is a remington the tenon will be around .700" plus recoil lug thickness that could take it from .800" to 950" with a counter bore to consider. I would think that the safe approach would be to take at least 1.0748" representing the depth of the BR chamber to shoulder for the re-chamber, anything short of this would or could be affected by the existing recoil lug shoulder on the current tenon and the ability to cut good threads for fitting.

So if I understand what you are saying the shoulder of an Ackley improved case is not wider than a standard case? I was under the impression that the shoulder dia was wider and the case walls were less tapered than the standard case. So your saying that the shoulder angle is the only change?

No a 22-250 ack has the improved shoulder and the case wall is almost straight losing its signature taper
