Rebarreling Ruger Mini 14

I am in the process of rebarreling a Ruger Mini 14 that was customized by ASI , the customer wants it rebarreled for his own reasons, it is currently a 204 Ruger and is going to be rechambered to 204 R .My question is about the gas port bushing , the barrel is .875 dia at the spot of the bushing , the current barrel has the bushing counter bored
.200 into the barrel . Does it need to be counterbored that deep ?
