Rebarreling a Remington 37

I'm about to remove the barrel from a Remington Model 37 Rangemaster, and I see what looks like a key seat under the barrel where the barrel butts up against the receiver, at the 6 o'clock position. It is right where one would expect to see a witness mark, but it is machined into the barrel and is about 1/32" wide. There is no corresponding mark or recess in the receiver, but it sure looks like a key seat in which a wedge might be placed to prevent barrel rotation. There is no wedge that I can see, and the barrel threads are clearly visible through the front stock screw hole. Also, I note there is some fine machining on the very end and bottom of the barrel shank, just on the bottom edge of the angled cut at the 6 o'clock position. Can anyone tell me whether or not the 37 barrels just screw off, and if the very small machined bevel has a purpose? I'm not talking about the large bevel, but the small facets on the very lower edge of that bevel.

I don't want to attempt to remove the barrel and find out there is some kind of retaining key in there. Anyone ever personally remove a M37 barrel, and are there any other considerations about which I should be aware?

Thanks

kenth458: I have no experience with a Mod. 37 Rangemaster, so I don't know what your seeing, but as per the Gun Digest Book of EXPLODED GUN DRAWINGS there are no keys or pins shown locking bbl. tenon to reciever.
