Rear rest/bag design question

If there were no rules to worry about, what would your rear rest and/or bag look like? What do you think would give the best, most consistent result?

Boyd IBS longrange heavygun has no rules to speak of for rear rests. Flat wide mechanical rest just like the front seems to be the way to go.

What about something with an air bearing for the first inch of recoil and then a cushion or damper to catch the mass of the stock and enable it to return to battery. When I conceive this rest the air would be supplied like an air hickey table mot necessarily a cylinder but maybe that would work, too.

It would not involve sliding motion. Any imperfection in the sliding surfaces, or any introduced by contaminants produces inconsistency.

Who makes the best rear rest for heavy gun? I'm on the waitlist for the Seb Max. I had to have it after watching Sam Hall use it with a heavy gun. I've been trying to find out the rear rest Sam shot with in that video but have come up empty.

Any ideas?
