Hey by the way I've been meaning to ask you, since I know you're first love is classic flinters. While not period I have a beautifull Ron Elhert squirrel gun I've been thinking of selling. Other than Track of the Wolf, got any suggestions? I know his guns have been pretty rare to find since his untimely death. Sorry for the off topic post.

Try Rob Osborne Osborne Gunsmithing White Cloud Mi. 231-689-6746. I am sure he can help you.

Although Mr Pope WAS an expert, I don't think he would be much help today.

Well,

Harry Pope.....famous riflemaker, custom barrel maker, outstanding shot. He also built/modified/barreled the beloved winchester you speak of. The problem is.....he did it when they were new.....

I was waiting for Tim to give you contact info for a medium that could hold a seance. Some of us have just been at these shooting games too long.
Hope our lame attempts at humor didn't upset you

The Pope

I thought Tim was talking about "THE POPE OF RIMFIRE" in Borden, In.

I see I am new to this so it should be expected that I wouldnt KNOW about the history of gunmakers. I am not confused, but I appreciate your joke now.

JUst exactly how did he confuse me don, he didnt give me any info.

Mike, buddy try and catch up here. Harry Pope was one of the great Winchester, Ballard, Stevens gunsmiths of all time. The problem is he has been a, um, dead for abot 90 years. Old gun-old gunsmith.
OK again, what do you need, reline, restore, restock? Doug Turnbull will take it and make it look like it left the factory today. Google up Turnbull restorations. I guarantee, he's alive.
